Rochelle Woodiest was born and raised in East St. Louis, IL. She is the daughter of JoAnn Blacknell, a retired educator with the East St. Louis public School System and Roland Woodiest. She received her Bachelor’s of Art degree from Iowa State University, and her Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University-School of Law, in 1999. Rochelle began working as an Assistant Circuit Attorney in the Circuit Attorney’s Office, City of St. Louis, in 2001, as a trial attorney and later became Director of Drug Court Prosecution for the Adult Drug Court Program for four years. She then returned to the trial team, where she worked in the property crime unit.
In June, 2013 Rochelle was commissioned to the St. Louis City’s Adult, Family and Juvenile Drug Court. Outside of her professional duties, Rochelle is a member of St. John Church, in Illinois, where she works with the youth department and is a member of the Mound City Bar Association.
Rochelle was an awardee of the St. Louis City Drug Court’s Janet Reno Award in 2009, and St. Louis Business Journal’s Forty Under Forty in 2012.
