Gary Witt was appointed to the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District in January 2010, and retained in 2012. He served as an Associate Circuit Judge for Division V of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Platte County Missouri from November 1998 to 2010. Prior to becoming a Judge, he was a Shareholder with the firm of Witt, Hicklin & Witt, P.C. in Platte City. He and his wife Angie live near Parkville, Missouri. His undergraduate degree is from William Jewell College and law degree from University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. Elected to three terms as a State Representative, he served as Chair of the Judiciary and Ethics Committee and Chaired the Special Committee on Impeachment. He is a Fellow with The National Courts and Sciences Institute. He serves on the Board of the Missouri Institute for Justice. He is Past-President of the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges and is Past-President of the Platte County Bar Association. In addition, he is Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Missouri Judicial Conference. He is a frequent speaker to civic and school groups. He has served on the Board of the Platte County Historical Society (former Treasurer), Life Member of the MU Alumni Association. Voted Best Associate Circuit Judge; Missouri Lawyer's Weekly readers poll (2009) and was given the prestigious President's Award from the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges (2009) and the Dr. Terry Martinez Science and the Law Award by the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (2015).
