Captain Tommy St. John has over 28 years of law enforcement experience and has worked in every division of the Clay County Sheriff's office. He has been active on the STAR (Special Tactics and Response) team for 20 years, and is the Commander of the Firearms and Taser units as well as an instructor for the Sheriff’s Office. Tommy currently is the Commander of the Community Court Services which includes the security of the Clay County Court Houses, the School Resource Unit, Fugitive, Civil, Transport Sex Offender registration, and the CCW permit unit. Tommy has been a drug court tracker for 8 years and is currently the lead tracker for the Clay County Prosecutors Office. Tommy is a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs. Missouri and a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. Captain St. John has been an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years, and is an Assistant Scout Master with Troop 1313 in Excelsior Springs. Over the last ten years, he and his son, Ben, have volunteered to assist the Excelsior Springs Football team. Tommy’s other interests include disability rights and awareness, particularly in law enforcement venues; he oversees the CIT unit for the Sheriff’s Office and is a Zone representative of the Missouri School Resource Officers Association.
